Tucked away in the outskirts of Philly lies the perfect backdrop worthy of a dark fairytale wedding. The Old Mill in Rose Valley provided love birds Serin and Jim the picturesque scene for their unique wedding day that showcased their personal style. Beyond the artistic touches and gothic flair, the theme of these two's wedding day was simple: their deep and abiding love for each other.
Here's an in-depth look at how these two curated the perfect day to start their journey as a married couple.
The First Look

The first look is one of Still Poetry Photography's favorite wedding day hacks. Not only does it allow you to get through a ton of the formal portraits before the ceremony, which allows you to enjoy your cocktail hour, but it gives you a moment of quiet in what otherwise can feel like a hectic whirlwind.
Unlike a first look at the altar, a private first look allows you to have an intimate and up close look at all the fine details of your partner's attire. Not only did Serin choose a gorgeous black gown for her bridal look, but Jim chose a traditional kilt that makes him stand out among a sea of black-tuxed groomsman.
Right after their first look, we dove into their couples portraits. Because Still Poetry Photography is all about prompting rather than posing, the portraits just feel like an extension of your celebration, not an interruption. These two just got to walk around and enjoy each others' company, all while getting showstopping portraits taken along the way.

The Ceremony
After finishing up the family formals, the planner Confetti & Bustle whisked Serin away to tuck her in the bridal suite as guests started to arrive.
Jim stood at the front of the ceremony spot, greeting guests as they strolled in and took their seats.
The outdoor ceremony location they chose defies description. Old Mill manages to make its couples feel as though they're getting married in European castle ruins, even though they're only a stone's throw from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The Officiant Jawn absolutely nailed the ceremony, making the service sweet and personal, but not long-winded. She also translated portions of the ceremony so that Spanish speakers could enjoy the heartfelt speeches as well.
As the couple walked off together, it wasn't just the guests wiping away tears - I had to wipe a few from my eyes as well!

The Cocktail Hour and Reception
Serin and Jim took a quick break in the bridal suite to have a quiet moment to themselves. After Manda, their coordinator, bustled up her dress, the pair was able to head into cocktail hour to enjoy the party with their guests. That's the beauty of a first look - the couple doesn't need to use all of cocktail hour taking photos!

The reception started off with the parents of the couple entering the hall, followed by the newlyweds. They went directly into their first dance, and then everyone got to enjoy the incredible food by Queen of Hearts Catering.

As everyone finished up their meals, parents, brothers, and best friends took to the mic to share heartfelt anecdotes about their favorite memories and advice for the couple. After the toasts and special dances wrapped, it was time to hit the dancefloor. DJ Dre Ovalle got people on their feet with a great set list.

Their Gothic Dark Fairytale Is Just the Beginning
Serin and Jim's wedding day was a magical, heartfelt experience that marked their beginning as a married couple with style. Both their artistic touch and their incredible team of vendors made this an unforgettable celebration that everyone was blessed to play a part in.
