Capturing love with compassion
Hi, I'm Sarah!
It's nice to meet you!
I'm a queer, neurodivergent photographer that specializes in making the photography process painless.
Photography can be an incredibly triggering process for some. That's why we run all of our sessions with compassion and patience.
I love taking people who are nervous in front of the camera and making them feel empowered and confident.
Because my job isn't snapping some pics.
My job is creating art that captures your life in a fraction of a second, without it feeling like a staged photoshoot.
With Love,
Sarah Margaret
define still poetry photography: the inverse of poetry in motion.
Our lives are poetry in motion.
Still Poetry Photography captures moments - the fractions of a second required to make a photograph - to tell a story.
The moment you share celebratory queso with your new wife on your elopement day.
The moment your song hits the speakers and you have to shake it out and let go of everything that's been holding you down.
The moment you reclaim your body and your life story.
The moment you honor your inner strength and thank your body for all its done.
Existence is art.
Entrust us with telling your story.
photography that compliments every shade
Let's be blunt: not every photography style caters to every skin tone.
We have spent years developing a signature style of editing that is true-to-life color, because it's one of the only editing styles that will compliment every individual's unique and beautiful skin.
If you are a person of color, you do not need to worry that your skin will look yellowy or orange.
During the session, we take the time to light your body properly so the camera can collect the proper data it needs for us to fine-tune the edit in post.
poses that accentuate your confidence
Myth: If you're a plus-sized person, the only way to get a flattering photo is to shoot from above.
If your photographer told you that, they were lying.
Or, they simply never took the time to discover how to pose all body-types.
We take the time to learn what you love about your body, and what you're still learning to love. We tailor your posing experience to accentuate your favorite parts of yourself.
And we never, ever edit your body into something unrecognizable.
We want you to see these photos and see yourself, not some fabricated magazine edit.
Capturing all love with compassion
As a queer, neurodivergent photographer, we love all love, and every single story deserves to be told with compassion.
For every queer wedding we have on our website, there is another queer couple that can't sign a model release because it is not safe for them to share their story.
Let that sink in; in the 21st century, they do not feel safe sharing their love story publicly.
We do not take our position as photographers lightly. We understand that there is a level of trust you need to have with a stranger in charge of telling your life story.
Whether you're choosing us as your wedding photographers or your boudoir photographer, you are safe with us.
accessible and affirming
Regardless of the session we're planning, we prioritize your physical, mental, and emotional needs.
We're a gender-affirming, trauma-informed studio that caters your session to your body and mind.
All photography can be triggering, for a variety of reasons. Whether you've experienced sexual trauma in the past and you're nervous for your boudoir session, or you struggle with body dysmorphia and are nervous beyond belief for your wedding photos, we're here to make this session not only painless, but euphoric.
Able-bodied, neurotypical people are not the only ones who deserve to feel incredible during photography sessions.
We think we're great.
But what do our clients think?
"Sarah was an absolute DREAM to work with. I did my first boudoir shoot ever with her (something I'd wanted to try for years but never pulled the trigger on until now), and I'm SO GLAD I did.
The whole experience was worth every penny. As much as it's a gift to my partner, it's also a gift to myself - I haven't felt as confident as I did shooting with Sarah in a loooong time.
Sarah is so welcoming and inclusive to everyone, and she takes such care to ensure you're comfortable, never pushing you further than you want to be pushed. I was laughing the entire time, it was so fun and there was no pressure or stress at all! Couldn't have asked for a better experience, and Still Poetry Photography will my my first and only choice going forward to capture many special life moments as they come."
