Planning a Bob’s Burgers Elopement: Unique Elopement Ideas

Updated: Jun 20, 2023

Here at Still Poetry Photography, we are huge fans of elopements. Elopements give you the opportunity to plan the exact wedding you always dreamed of without worrying about appeasing the rest of your family and friends.

If you could plan the best day of your life with your partner, no restrictions, no rules, no expectations, what would you do?

With this much freedom, it’s difficult to imagine what your wedding day would look like. We’re all inundated with images of “regular” weddings, and it can be hard to break out of the cookie-cutter mold.

That’s why we’re starting a series to showcase unique elopement concepts. While these elopements might be too niche for you, we hope they inspire you to create elopements you’re passionate about!

So what elopement concept will we use to kick off the series?

We’re planning a Bob’s Burgers elopement.

Why Elopements Are the Perfect Wedding-Type for Bob’s Burgers Fans

Bob’s Burgers fans know that Linda and Bob are the perfect couple. They’re a realistic look at a parenting team that gets into disagreements and has their ups and downs, but at the end of the day, they’re desperately in love and support each others’ dreams. Even as a middle-aged couple with three kids, they continue to grow closer as they discover more about each other through the difficulties life throws at them.

In the pilot episode, we learn that Bob and Linda had a courthouse wedding in order to save money. Bob even says they worked the night of their wedding because they couldn’t afford not to. While elopements can be the thrifty way to go, even the most luxurious elopements will cost less than a middle-of-the-road wedding.

Regardless of your budget, elopements are an incredible opportunity to make the day 100% about you and your partner. You can make it as thrifty or as extravagant as you want.

Just because you have a courthouse wedding, doesn’t mean it can’t be absolutely fabulous. So here’s what I would do if one of my couples wanted a Bob’s Burgers themed wedding.

Styling a Bob’s Burgers Elopement

We only have one “photo” of Bob and Linda’s wedding; it’s a portrait that hangs in their bedroom. We’ll use some design elements from their actual wedding day, but I’m going to pull from a couple episodes to get the styling for this elopement.

Looking at this photo, I see Linda wearing a simple white dress that she probably thrifted.

For the partner(s) that wants to wear a dress, I’d pick something simple, tea length, that’s beautiful, flattering, and functional. For this elopement, we’re going to be moving around a lot, so we don’t want something super long and impractical.

For the person(s) interested in wearing a suit, I would go with something like what Bob wore during Season 3, Episode 15 O.T. The Outside Toilet when he borrows a suit from one of Mort’s clients to contest a parking ticket.

And by client, we all know I mean one of the deceased people he hosted in his funeral home.

You look gorgeous at any size, Bob. Don't let Louise comment on your weight.

We’ll pick a suit that’s gray, classy, but well-tailored that magically fits you.

If you have kids together or you’re having a microwedding and you have a flower tosser and ring bearer, you have a super cute opportunity to dress them up in the colors blue, green, and yellow, which are of course the signature colors of Tina, Louise, and Gene.

Even if your ring bearer is a pup, you can still dress them up in those signature colors!

For flowers, I would go with carnations, from the Gene and Courtney Show episode (Season 6, Episode 7) where Bob completely forgets to get flowers for Tina’s fundraiser. You could buy a pre-made bouquet, but that honestly seems pretty easy to DIY.

Bob’s Burgers Elopement: The Ceremony

Loren Bouchard confirmed at that Bob's Burgers is located "somewhere in the outer boroughs or on the northern Jersey shore." However, there are plenty of beach towns along the east coast that have the same feel as their small, walkable township.

If I were planning a vow renewal for Bob and Linda, I would have the ceremony along the beach and then take portraits and have some post-ceremony fun at Wonder Wharf.

To replicate that here in Delaware, I would have the ceremony on a quiet beach, and then bring the couple to Fun Land. Fun Land is a Rehoboth staple. It’s a historic amusement park with an old-timey charm that’s the picture perfect place to get some portraits while enjoying the afternoon together.

Bob’s Burger’s Elopement: The Reception

Once it’s time for dinner, I’d rent out a private room or booth at an upscale pub or brewery. If you don’t want to do the beach and amusement park ceremony, you can rent out the pub as your venue space and host the whole elopement indoors.

For dinner, we’ll obviously be served some incredible burgers.

If you want to go with what Bob prepared for the wedding of Connor and Farrah in Something Old Something New, Something Bob Caters for You, it would be ring gruyere burger, which is gruyere cheese and an onion ring, with a side of farro salad but you could pick ANY episode’s burger of the day and be on brand.

If I were to plan the elopement here in Delaware, I’d host the reception dinner at Chesapeake & Maine. It’s the upscale sister restaurant to Dogfish Head, a Delaware legend.

And we all know Linda Belcher wouldn’t attend any function that doesn’t serve wine, so if you also choose to drink, make sure you’ve got a wine glass.

For dessert, you could continue along the lines of that episode and make cupcakes of Farrah’s grandma’s special cake, which was red velvet with cream cheese frosting.

Just don’t fall on top of it.

Ready to Plan the Most Magical Day of Your Life?

Of course, not everyone will want their wedding day based off of an adult cartoon. However, this is just an example to show you that there is truly no limit to the type of wedding you could throw if you choose to plan an elopement.

Does this process seem overwhelming?

I plan, coordinate, officiate, photograph, and record unique elopements along with my husband. In Delaware, we have all-inclusive elopement packages that use exclusively women-owned vendors. But don’t worry; we travel, too!
